A Look At Four Flight PC Simulation Games

PC simulation games are fun because they let the gamer do something that he or she normally wouldn’t be able to do in a very realistic way. PC life simulation games and PC racing simulation games are fun, but anyone can go out on the town or drive a car really fast if they really want to. This is why PC flight simulation games will always be one of the more popular simulation genres. It is not that easy for the average citizen to go out and fly a plane. The following article will take a look at four popular flight simulation games.

The first flight simulator is Microsoft Flight Simulator X. FSX is the latest release in the Microsoft Flight Simulator series, which is perhaps the longest running series in the history of PC simulation games. This game even predates Windows. FSX is one of the most comprehensive PC simulation games around. It includes 2,400 airports worldwide. Players can explore the world or complete missions. Though non-combat, the missions can be very exciting and often include rescue elements. This game comes in both standard and deluxe editions; deluxe is more expensive, but has more features.

Another great PC flight simulator is X-Plane. This game is unique in the fact that you can fly stock aircraft or create your own. X-Plane also provides the option to fly a space shuttle, so unlike other PC simulation games, X-Plane is not limited to earth. X-Plane is not quite as realistic as FSX, and its world is not quite as comprehensive, but X-Plane offers more variety of aircraft and the opportunity to construct new aircraft.

Lock On: Modern Air Combat is an awesome flight simulator fighting game. This game allows players to pilot 8 different Russian and American fighter Jets. Through Internet or LAN connections, Lock On allows games to engage in multi-player combat of 6-32 players. This is pretty unique in terms of PC simulation games. This may be the closest you’ll ever get to Top Gun, short of greasing yourself up for a manly game of volleyball. Unleash your inner Maverick. You can be my wingman anytime man!

Yet another awesome combat flight simulator is IL-2 Sturmovik. This WWII game is quite possibly the best combat simulator around. This game has awesome graphics and really great missions. Like Lock On, multiplayer battles can include up to 32 players. This is one of the great PC simulation games for World War II buffs and flight buffs alike.

The above games are merely a small sample of the great flight oriented PC simulation games available. There are games that focus on all sorts of different aircraft from all sorts of different time periods. For example, there is a flight simulator available for every war that has utilized planes. There are plenty of helicopter simulators available as well. Flight simulators will always be an important part of the world of PC simulation games.  A flight simulator is a great gift for any enthusiast of simulator games.
